The Wisdom of Flow
Jun 11, 2026
There is a powerful act that is always happening in creation. It is quiet. It doesn't announce itself. Most of the time, we hardly notice it. And yet it is happening all the time.
It is the movement of life itself.
Our elders observed this deeply. They watched the rivers flow, the wind move through the trees, the seasons come and go. They noticed that in nature nothing is forcing anything.
And they recognized that the same power moving the air and the water is moving within us.
This understanding led them to a simple but profound realization: much of human suffering comes from going against our own nature. Much of our struggle comes from trying to force what is not ready, control what is beyond our reach, or make life unfold based on our personal agenda.

As our elders would say: What is forced, breaks.
Sometimes that break appears as exhaustion, disappointment, illness, or perhaps the heavy weight of life that doesn't seem to go away.
There is another way.
Our elders taught us that when we stop forcing, life begins to flow like water. We become less exhausted because we are no longer fighting against the current of life.
And this doesn't mean we stop caring, or that we become passive. It means that our actions become aligned.
Plant Your Garden
One elder shared a teaching that beautifully illustrates this:
"Don't chase the butterflies. Plant your garden."
We chase approval, opportunities, relationships, success, and outcomes. We convince ourselves that if we can just catch the butterfly, then we will finally be happy.
But the elders reminds us to do something different. Plant your garden.
- Take care of your well-being.
- Stop being your own worst enemy.
- Look at yourself with kindness.
- Recognize yourself as a sacred experience walking upon this earth.
When we begin to do this, something beautiful happens. Our attention shifts from chasing life to cultivating life. We begin planting flowers within ourselves 🌸.
It is no longer just "our" effort. It becomes the love of life itself moving through us. Little by little, that love begins to beautify our experience...and the butterflies begin to arrive.
The butterflies are not only opportunities or pleasant experiences. They are also joy, peace, gratitude, connection, and wellbeing. But perhaps even more importantly, we begin to feel good within ourselves, and that changes everything.
Moving within the Duality
Of course, life will still bring challenges.
But our elders encouraged us to relate to those moments differently.
Instead of fighting what is happening, we can ask:
What is this teaching me?
How can this help me grow?
Gradually, our whole being starts to reorganize itself in favor of well-being.
This is how we become compatible with the flow of creation, through our heart, humility and choosing to walk in beauty… one day at a time.
Perhaps one of the greatest freedoms available to us is to stop fighting life.
And instead, learn how to flow with it.
A SEED TO CARRY
Notice where you may be forcing something in your life right now. Instead of pushing harder, pause.
Ask yourself: What would it look like to trust the natural movement of life here?
Then bring your attention back to your own "inner garden".
👉🏼 Tend to your thoughts, your words, your well-being.
And trust that in time the butterflies will come.
